Professor David Lopez is an entrepreneurial executive with expertise in growing and expanding businesses in startup, medium and large organizations. He teaches Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management and Investment Management courses at Babson College, Suffolk University, and Clark University.
As Vice President, Global Business Development at Scudder Kemper Investments, Professor Lopez helped launch a $90 million world-wide start-up by creating a successful selling process, a sales management structure as well as a comprehensive sales training program. As Vice President, Director of Training, at Fleet Investment Management, he built and managed the investment sales training department. At BankBoston, he participated in the merger of the investment businesses of BayBank and Bank of Boston, and was instrumental in the formation of an investment banking business launch. He is also a former licensed Financial Advisor and Regional Sales Manager.
Professor Lopez has been a guest coach and judge at Boston University’s Business Plan Boot-camp, Clark University’s Ureka Challenge, Suffolk University’s New Product Innovation Competition as well as Harvard University’s Business Plan Competition. He earned a BSBA Magna cum Laude from Northeastern University as well as his MBA in Entrepreneurship from Suffolk University. He is also a Faculty Advisor with the Summer Venture Program at Babson College.
Professor Lopez is an active member of the Massachusetts entrepreneurial ecosystem working with small companies to increase sales and revenue and assisting them in creating a scalable sales management structure. As a member of the Massachusetts Small Business Advisory Council, Professor Lopez assisted in creating initiatives at the State government level that will enable small businesses to grow, expand and create jobs. He is also a Certified SCORE Mentor.
